part 1

I was contacted autumn 2019 by luke hyams at youtube originals and shown a 45 minute edit of around 20 interviews shot by grmdaily. after filming a day with post diddy [ceo grm daily] at the wretch 32 discography day a couple of weeks from our first meeting, warner music entertainment and producer joss crowley came onto the job and we started formulating a single feature length documentary. after weeks of pre-production we geared up for what should’ve been a month of shooting but after our first official shoot day, covid-19 struck, shutting the whole country down…

this had three major effects on the following film, firstly we had to completely re-work the entire visual treatment and shooting process a million times, the second was the lockdown gave us an amazing amount of time to get to the bottom of grm’s story and the third was it became a series…

We spent about 2 months in production and the same in post with both overlapping and multiple edits running concurrently to turn the hundreds of hours of rushes into around a 2hr runtime series.
